This was our first coffee shop project that was a complete development project from ground up. We designed this project as a Hawaiian inspired coffee shop and bar that became a local favorite in the Museum District. Part of the concept of this project was to give it a handmade feel and to create a place perfect to “hang out.” We used repurposed materials both on the interior and exterior including a recycled artificial turf from a local stadium. Some of the fun details of this project include foundation control joints in the floor that point in cardinal directions with an additional control joint pointing back to the owner’s farm in Kona Hawaii, as well as handmade bamboo handles for the entrance doors.
